Three peas in a pod!
Dan really wanted to get back into riding his bike. Especially since he bought a really nice bike. So he entered a 4th of July bike ride. We only got to see him ride though the finish line, but the kids thought it was fun just the same. We got all decked out in our red, white, and blue attire and had a fun day!
The boys thought it was super cool to sit on Daddy's bike, especially since they're normally not allowed to even touch it!!
After the bike ride, we grabbed some breakfast and headed over to the 4th of July festival in Old Poway Park. It's a fun tradition we've done for the past few years. It's an olde timey park with a real train you can ride. They have several different bands playing music, there's a bbq, a craft fair and other goodies. We bought some old timey sodas. They were really sweet but also really good.
Later that night, we walked down the street to a grassy area and watched the fireworks that are launched from the high school a few blocks away. It was so fun! There were a lot of neighborhood people and their dogs out and everyone was just having a nice time. The boys loved the fireworks and thankfully they didn't scare Lucy. Lucy was a good trooper even though it was way past her bedtime! We love being able to just walk down every year and watch the fireworks.
The following day (July 5), Dan had the day off so we went to the beach! It was a lot of fun too. We don't get to go with Daddy very often, so it's always an extra treat when he can go. We met a lot of friends from church there and just hung out all day. It was relaxing and fun. I think I'm warming up to living in San Diego!
Henry came in for a little nap and snuggle time!
Dan's always a good sport. He played with the boys and dug sand pits and made sand castles.
We signed up for the summer reading program at the library again this summer. The boys always enjoy going to the library and this year they gave out some great prizes for reading. They got a big booklet of coupons with free kids meals at about five different places we actually eat at! They also each got two free tickets to the Padres' game! Each of the boys got to write their names on a fruit/veggie and hang them up on this wall. Not sure you can see their names, but they are standing right next to them.
This is probably one of their favorite features of the library. The firetruck. Kinda sad that the books aren't the best part, but we'll take what we can get!
