just havin' fun

Here are a bunch of random photos taken over the past few weeks of Jonah just being a boy and having some fun! He loves to put on shoes - anyone's shoes - and he had fun walking around in Daddy's shoes. They were a bit big and kind of hard to get around in, but he didn't want any help and had fun.
I finally took him to the beach this past week. Unfortunately it was freezy cold and windy! Oh and there was a SUPER high tide, which freaked me out. So we just played in the sand for a little while and searched for some shells before leaving. We'll try it again when the weather is nicer and the tide isn't so high.
Last Saturday we decided to head out to the Wild Animal Park. So we took our little wild animal and had a lot of fun. Here he is in a bird nest with Daddy. Wasn't his favorite spot but he tolerated us while we took his picture!
This is his favorite spot - the petting zoo. He could stay in there forever! He had fun petting the deer, they were super soft and very calm. There were some really small deer type animals that were cute too, but Jonah could resist poking them in the eye with his finger, and we didn't think we needed a picture of that!
Coming out of his fort that Daddy made him.
Daddy made him a fun fort out of the box for our new double stroller. Even Gracie got in on the action and went into the fort, which made Jonah happy!

Looking cute in his new robot tie. It even has matching socks. And there's a set waiting for Hammy too!

Lake Miramar

This goose swam right up and took a cracker from Dan. Jonah loved it and started "sharing" the crackers with them!

This afternoon, Dan decided to take a half day and come early. So we went out to Lake Miramar to feed the ducks. I had never been out there but I am so glad we went. It's only about ten minutes from our house and it's really cute and well maintained. And there were lots of ducks! We took a couple bags of stale crackers to feed the ducks and anything else that would come around. Little did we know that "anything else" would be Jonah. He ate every cracker we gave him until about five minutes before we left. Then he caught on to the fact that we were giving them to the ducks and he thought it was fun to throw the whole cracker out. The ducks didn't seem to mind. In fact there were several flocks of somewhat friendly geese that came over and chowed down on the whole crackers. It was a lot of fun and I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time out there this summer.

Keepin' Cool

Last week we had a spell of some warm weather, so we came up with lots of fun ways to stay cool. We picked up this tiny swimming pool and Jonah got to try out his new swim trunks. Of course, the pool was made better by putting his bath toys and some plastic snakes in it! Gracie thought it was the best water she had ever tasted and drank half the pool, so we all enjoyed it!
Gracie's moving in to suck down more water.
He LOVES to swing. He actually says "swing" when he goes outside so we can get it all set up for him. He'll stay in that thing as long as you are willing to push him!

After nappy, he decided Gracie made a pretty nice bench to sit on while he watched Elmo!

Easter 2010

All ready for church in his Easter vest.

We had a lot of fun for Easter this year. Jonah enjoyed his Easter basket and loved to hunt for the Easter eggs. The Easter Bunny left him a set of Thomas trains, lots of candy, some bubbles and a wind-up hopping egg. After church, we all settled down for a nap before hunting eggs. Unfortunately the nap was rudely interrupted by a pretty good sized earthquake. Everything was alright, but the naps were over. So we all went outside and hid the eggs. Jonah enjoyed finding them over and over and over.....and over! He didn't even catch on that there were jelly beans inside them, he just wanted to search for them in the backyard!

Too busy for Mom to take a photo - there's still more eggs to get!!

Hair cuts, lawnmowers and new backyard

Well, it's been another busy month for us. But as you can see from the picture, Jonah is able to relax through it all! (Elmo chair, feet up on his Elmo truck, watching Elmo - guess who he likes?!?) We finally got our backyard fixed up and are all ready for the summer. We got a new flower bed and some artificial grass - which everyone loves. Jonah and Gracie are huge fans and even Kaiko has decided to enjoy the grass, though she wouldn't want me to let anyone know. We were able to get Jonah a cute little sandbox from Craigslist for only ten dollars!! He loves sitting around it and playing in the sand, but can't stand having sand stuck to his hands. Yesterday he got a cute little lawn mower - so he is now in charge of keeping the grass in line. Between doctors appointments and running all sorts of errands, he's able to begin enjoying his spring.

His new mower at work
He wouldn't stand still so I could get a picture of him, so they're all action shots!
He recently decided he loves to line up all of his trains, cars or just toys in general. And he's very particular about what order they need to be in - funny!
He's also discovered how to climb up onto EVERYTHING!! We found him up in the chair lining up his trains before bed time.
Grandma Mason gave him his first professional haircut. I've been doing all the cutting so far, which basically means I hack a piece off as he walks by and hope it looks ok when we're done!
What a big boy!!
Yay - our new grass!
Grass and new flowerbed, with real flowers!
I snuck over and took a picture of the mud pit before they laid down the turf.
His "new" turtle sandbox - before we put the sand in it and moved it outside. Everyone was interested in it when we brought it home. Jonah would play in it with his toys, and Gracie and Kaiko would sniff it and jump in and out of it!

V-Day

What a fun Valentine's Day! This year, we decided to celebrate our V-Day on the 13th since it was a Saturday. We all opened our little presents and spent the day eating candy and taking care of the house/yard. It was actually pretty relaxing and fun. Jonah seems to make all the holidays more fun! We got Jonah a Thomas the Train pop-up tent thing. He LOVED it! He would take all his toys into it and just hang out in there. He even took Gracie in it for a while!

This first picture is of him "helping" Daddy in the backyard. We are getting it ready to be torn up and have some artificial grass put in. We can't wait since our backyard is pretty unusable right now. It will be a fun place for the boys to play, especially Jonah, this summer. We've already got a little swimming pool and a sandbox in the works for when it's finished! Hopefully this will be done in the next few weeks so pictures will come soon.
The popper is more fun when you take it in the tent.
He even had Daddy bring his Elmo chair in. Then he came out and grabbed his computer and had his office all set up!

My sweet boy!
He's learning to use his spoon, which he absolutely LOVES! It's so cute because he will pick the food up with his fingers and put it on the spoon and then try to get it to his mouth. Most of the time, he uses his spoon for mashed potatoes or applesauce, since they stay on the spoon better!

Growin' Big and Playin' Hard

These pictures were taken in the past few weeks. He's growing so big and loves to play! What a fun little boy!!

For some reason it's more fun to ride his truck backwards.
His first time playing with Play Doh! At first, he refused to touch it. But after he saw me playing with it, he decided it wasn't so bad. And he didn't try to eat it once!!
The alternative use for his dump truck.
He's such a big boy - he climbs into his dump truck all by himself!
