October Mash

Well, this post is a little bit of a mash-up. October was a pretty busy month with a lot of fun outings and photo opportunities in it. So I sort of combined most of them in this post. These first few pictures are from a 5K that I ran. It was sponsored by the Police Department so there were a lot of law enforcement vendors and exhibits. This race car was there for the kids to get in and see. The boys thought it was so fun to get in a real race car!

This little race car was an exhibit at the 5k too. The guy was trying to sell us on the idea of letting our five year old race this around. Seriously. He said this type of car was raced by kids ages 5-12. And it goes 30-40mph. I just looked at him like he was crazy. And he was. Really. You expect me to stick my 5 year old in this tin can and let him race at 40mph when he trips walking up our driveway, runs into walls in our house and rides a bike with training wheels?!? Crazy.

Before we bought our house or even thought of buying a house, we bought tickets to the Disneyland Halloween event. Now that we have to buy tickets for four of us, Disneyland gets pretty pricey. So this was a fun treat! We went up the Monday before Halloween and the kids were so excited! They're old enough to remember how fun it is so they were really looking forward to going. It was cold and rain was predicted, so I had us loaded to the gills with all sorts of rain gear. Thankfully, it never rained until we left the park and were walking to the parking garage!

Lucy went as a little ducky, Jonah was a fireman and Henry was a puppy!

This is just a super random but HILARIOUS photo of Henry!! A friend used the Duck Dynasty app to stick a beard on Henry. It's creepy but funny all at the same time!

Also this month, Grammy & PomPom came down for a visit! The kids were excited to have them stay with us and spend the night in our house. It's a big deal for people to sleep in their house with them!! They had fun showing Grammy & PomPom all their toys and random things around the house. And enjoying lots of hugs!

Boy did we luck out this year. We had to run to Home Depot for a few things and the boys saw this "Pumpkin Patch" outside. It was basically an area surrounded by hay bales with a few pumpkins scattered around. And big boxes full of pumpkins sitting next to it. They were so excited! They kept talking about the "pumpkin patch" at Home Depot. We usually drive like an hour to a huge pumpkin farm and take the entire day to search for a pumpkin  and spend too much money on food and other junk all while roasting in 90 degree weather. So we both thought, "hey, why not?!?" So one night, we gave the kids a bath, put them in their jammies, drove down the street to Home Depot and let them go crazy in the "pumpkin patch." It was magical - for them! And it was way more convenient, practical and cheap for us!! Woohoo!!

Just my sweet Squishy!

We also got to take advantage of the Halloween event at Seaworld. Since the kids and I all got free passes, we try to get down there once in a while. So after church, one Sunday, we drove over and got the kids in their costumes to trick or treat at Seaworld. It was really cute and done up pretty well. The kids were disappointed that it wasn't dark (apparently it doesn't count if it isn't dark) but they had fun getting really good candy and prizes and going on a few rides.

Lucy also had to get here eyes checked this month. Since Dan passed his mutant eye gene on to Jonah, all the kids have to get their eyes checked to see if they have the same eye issue (lazy eye). Lucy was not the best patient getting her eyes dilated. It was kind of sad. But luckily she does't appear to have the mutant gene. She'll get tested again when she's two to get the "all clear". She scored these really cute pink sunglasses to wear home while here eyes were adjusting!

Jonah saw this cool robot at the 5k exhibits.

My sleepy little ducky couldn't last all day at Disneyland. So cute!!
