Peek-a-boo

Henry's new favorite thing to do after a bath is play "Peek-A-Boo!"

funny hats

My boys love their hats!!

pirate eye

Earlier in June, I took the boys in to the pediatrician for some colds and she pointed out that Jonah had a "wandering" eye. So we took him into the pediatric ophthalmologist to get it checked out. That started us on the path to his glasses, which are super cute! Sadly, that didn't correct it. So we went on to patching his strong eye in order to strengthen the weak eye. This was not Jonah's favorite thing to do, but he was such a trooper! He did so well and actually grew to love his "pirate eye". We nicknamed it and got him some pirate goodies so he wouldn't be afraid of the whole thing. So we patched religiously for two weeks. The patching did bring vision back into his weak eye, however, it wasn't able to strengthen it enough to straighten it. So last Tuesday, my sweet little guy underwent surgery on both eyes. They weakened both interior eye muscles in order to force the brain to take over and use both eyes. He did amazingly well with the surgery. The whole process was very quick and Jonah was back to playing the same evening! So, now we just have to wait for the muscles to heal to find out if the surgery was a success.

the beach

We finally took advantage of living in San Diego, and this summer we made it to the beach multiple times. The boys LOVE the beach! We were able to go with some friends from church and all the kids played together and entertained each other. It was great! Where else but San Diego, does your one year old get a tan!?!

Henry helping DJ dig a hole. Little did he know the hole was for him!

Filling in the hole with sand and Henry!

Henry didn't appreciate being buried, but once Jonah saw what was going on, he wanted to try it! The top picture is his turn being buried!

vacation part 2

We spent a lot of time at the pool, which was great considering it was in the 100's most of the time! The boys loved the pool, especially Jonah.

Ready to hit the pool!

Jonah was fearless! He would venture out on his own away from the steps and swim back. He is definitely ready for swim lesson!

Playing with the gigantic foam lego-type things outside the Childrens Museum

Riding on the police motorcycle

Vacation is hard work!

All the mutts

We couldn't resist those puppy-dog eyes!

vacation

We headed off to Tucson for vacation the first part of August. I know, who goes to Tucson in August? We do! We love spending time at the pool enjoying the heat, the monsoons and hanging out with our desert friends! The boys had a really good time this year. Last year, Henry was too little to know or enjoy anything - but this year he was ready for the action! We did so many fun things - the Childens Museum, the Desert Museum, dinner in Old Tucson and lots of swimming. This may have to be a yearly tradition!

Henry with the jumbo "Connect Four" game at the Childrens Museum

Playing in the grocery store at the Childrens Museum. Henry was all about cleaning up and putting the fruits & veggies away. Too bad that only works when we're on vacation!

My sweet boy!

Jonah trying to escape from something!

Playing the bongo with a flip-flop

Jonah and his buddies Amelia & Owen in jail at Old Tucson - some pretty cute little bandits!

The little train at Old Tucson. It was SUPER lame but the kids loved it and found the ride through the "graveyard" scary.

Burning off some energy

This is how they got around every time we were together - best buddies!

Hangin' out in the rickshaw-type thing

On the train - Owen was very excited to sit with Jonah all by himself and protect him during the train ride! :)

Jonah & the Fairy Dog. That Fairy Dog went EVERYWHERE!

Old Tucson - they had a bunch of old wagons decorated up. It was really cute!

Henry hiding in our hotel. We had such a great room - there was plenty of room for the boys to run around and play with toys.

The boys loved Jonah's inflatable bed. Anytime it was down, they would race over to it and play!

Ready for bed!

Jonah loves reading his little Bible! I found him cuddled up on some pillows in the corner "reading" his Bible!

Huff & Puff

Jonah and Molly loved the Huff & Puff ride at Knotts Berry Farm. They pumped their little cars around the track, then got in line to do it again! I think they did it about five times in a row!!

knotts berry farm

A few days before we went on vacation, I took the boys to Knotts Berry Farm with some friends from church. They had a BLAST!! Jonah and Molly went on all sorts of kiddie rides and Henry was able to go on most kid rides too. Jonah loved the Snoopy bounce house (picture above). Henry loved a school bus ride that goes up and around similar to a ferris wheel. He would kick his legs and squeal! The weather was perfect and it was so fun to go with friends for me and the kids! We will be doing this again soon!

Jonah and Molly on the little Snoopy ride. They were laughing the entire time!

Jonah, Henry and Molly with Ms. Frannie. (Henry loves Ms. Frannie more than anyone in the world!!)

Jonah and Ethan in the trucks. They were so cute. Ethan was excited to take Jonah on a ride by himself and he was very careful to make sure Jonah obeyed all the rules! :)

Ethan and Jonah in the airplanes - Jonah's in the back of the red one

Got to meet Snoopy after watching his little show. Jonah wanted nothing to do with Snoopy until Molly ran up and gave him a hug. Then Snoopy was ok!

At McDonalds eating breakfast before the drive up. The four amigos!

The Huff & Puff - Jonah LOVED this ride! His little face was so red from the heat and from pumping his little train to go around the track!

Henry's one year photos (sneak peek)

Here's a little sneak peek at Henry's one year old pictures. We took them ourselves and it's taken a little bit longer than expected to edit them all. It was pretty tricky trying to get the little guy to stand still for the photos! However, we were able to get some pretty cute pictures of the Hamster. So, hopefully we'll get them edited here shortly and be able to share a few more.
