May 2017

May was such a fun month! We did a lot of new things and got to spend a lot of quality family time, which is always a good thing! We started the month out by going to one of my favorite craft fairs ever! It is called the Queen Bee and we've been going for a few years now. But it keep growing and this year they moved it to the fair grounds! It was so much fun and I got quite a few sweet little things - Lucy loves going to get new clippies for her hair! The kids found these incredibly cute animal balloons for only five dollars! Of course I couldn't say no to that, especially since they were all super well behaved!

Later in the month, we headed up to our favorite cabin in Idyllwild. We haven't been this time of year and we were in for a treat! The first few days we were there, it was SUPER cold! Like highs in the 40s. But by the end of the week, it warmed up to the 70s, so it was fun getting to experience both types of weather. We had a lot of fun hiking around, exploring, playing games in the cabin and visiting the little town. We can't get enough of this place!

I spy with my little eye...a Lucy!

Lucy was too tired to go on. Thankfully she's still tiny enough to fit in the Ergo...barely!

Some strange sculpture that the boys thought was cool.

We found this sweet little lake and had a really great hike around it. It had a lot of ducks and baby ducks, which were really cute. We also encountered a humongous ladybug swarm!!! It was unreal!

 A few leftover ladybugs.

The cabin had a little playhouse outside, which is absolutely perfect!

We couldn't get enough of the squirrels, chipmunks, bluejays and woodpeckers. They were everywhere! It was really fun feeding them everyday.

This squirrel cracked us up. He just laid there on his stomach all stretched out!

 Walking into the ladybug swarm.

 Another ladybug straggler.

Our favorite park. It has so much to do and it practically brand new.

Enjoying lunch outside on the patio.

We also took a really neat field trip with some other homeschoolers out to a horse sanctuary. This place takes in injured and/or abandoned horses, does what they can to rehabilitate them and then tries to adopt them out. Many of the horses were unable to be adopted out due to their injuries or ages. So we went up as a group to help! We learned all sorts of things about horses, mainly about how much work they are! We learned to shovel poop, wash them, brush them, feed them and exercise them.  It was really neat and the kids had a blast! We pretty much all came home wanting a horse!

This cute little pony had Henry's birthday. It was an instant connection (although the pony is older than Henry!)

They also helped take care of the ducks, rabbits and a few chickens.

 Feeding the horses

Getting ready to wash this horse. The horses all did really good. It was a hot day so they pretty much enjoyed being bathed!

 Everybody loved to scrub her!

Then she got brushed and cleaned up.

And this guy turned seven! I keep telling him to stop growing and that this is his last birthday, but he doesn't believe me!

Last night as a six year old.

And our sweet friends from Arizona came to visit for the weekend! We were so excited, we bought the girls matching dresses for church and matching outfits to wear. They loved it!
