June 2017

June is always a fun month, as we wind down from school and enjoy the summer. We started off our month by taking the kids to the county fair. It's always a fun day and this year, they had a lot of fun, free activities for the kids. Love that!

More pictures from the fair are further down. For some reason, they always get mixed up when I add them!

Dan also finished up our cool new sandbox! I have been wanting a big sandbox for a long time, so he made one! The kids love it and I'm sure they'll get a lot of use out of it this summer.

Lucy and I had a "Mommy & Me" date. It was so fun to get to spend time with her alone. We went to a pottery painting place and she picked out this cat (of course) to paint! She wanted it pink and did such a great job on it. She was a little disappointed that she couldn't take it home the same day, but it was fun when we went back to get it and she got to see how it turned out.

After some painting, we walked around the little shopping center and got some frozen yogurt (our shared love language!!!)
We even wore our matching leggings!

The boys had their first official martial arts test and earned a new colored belt. I'm so proud of them!

Here are the other pictures from the fair. The kids enjoyed playing with the farm equipment.

We let them go on a few (lame) rides. They enjoyed themselves!

One of the tents in the kid area had all sorts of free craft things, so Jonah made a vest out of a paper sack. They had scraps of fabric to glue on and markers/crayons to decorate it with. It turned out pretty good!

They also had a fun little butterfly garden that was FULL of butterflies and cocoons! Lucy loved watching them all and Jonah was lucky enough to get one to land on him!

They had another area set up where the kids could pick a vegetable seed and plant it, then take it home. All free!

Here is Lucy's finished cat. It turned out so cute!

One of our favorite parts of summer is hanging out in the backyard with our fire pit. Sometimes we roast marshmallows and hotdogs. It makes for such a peaceful and relaxing evening.

The boys finished up school by completing an ocean study. They each made a Lego ocean creature on their own (no guide)! These boys are SO creative! Henry made a beluga whale.

 Jonah made a sting ray.

After we finished school, we celebrated with a picnic outside and the kids painted some crafts.

Going for bicycle rides is always a fun was to end the day too!

One of the classes the boys took this  year was a Junior Theater class in Balboa Park. They did a musical performance for all the parents on the last day and it was SO cute!!! Sadly the videos are too big to post here. But I like to watch them over and over!

Beach days are always the best too!

The boys signed up to learn the staff in martial arts. Look out!
