learning to eat!

Here he is before his first official meal! He's so cute! So we started to offer him rice cereal shortly after he turned four months old. He seemed interested, but after a few bites, he started choking and gagging. So we put the rice cereal on hiatus for another month.
What IS this stuff?

mmmmm, not too bad!

Well, anytime I take a picture of Henry, someone else wants his picture taken too. He's so cute, I can't resist such a cute request!

Let's try this again - so we tried the rice cereal again now that he's five months old and he LOVES it!

More please!

pumpkin patch '10

This past weekend, we made our annual trip up to Bates Nut Farm to pick pumpkins and enjoy the fall. As usual, I forgot fall in San Diego means near triple-digit temperatures. We had fun anyways and came back with some pretty great pumpkins! This year, they had a little petting corral for the kids. So Jonah and I went in and he had a blast. His favorite was this baby pygmy goat. He started squealing (by he, I mean Jonah!) the moment he saw the little goat. He just got so excited and all he could think about was hugging it! So we stayed with the goat for a while and fed it, then made our way around to all the other little animals. We had some good food, homemade ice cream, kettle corn and then it was time for pumpkins. Jonah couldn't wait to get out to the pumpkins but once we got to them, all he wanted to do was sit on them. Not sure where that came from, but we allowed him to sit on a LOT of pumpkins!

Loves the little goat!

Can you spot my little pumpkin-head?

If you look closely, you can see Jonah is holding a tiny pumpkin. He was VERY proud of picking this pumpkin out!

Home Depot Project

my little carpenter

Three little peas in a pod! James and Jennifer told us about a super fun and free event at Home Depot. The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot offers a free kids class where the kids build a little something to take home. Since James and Jennifer were in town and Owen was looking forward to building this month's project, we all went down to our local Home Depot. It was so cute! They give the kids a little apron and a pin related to their project. This month's project was building a fire boat. So Owen and Jonah both built their boats, with a bit of help from their Dads, while the Mom's and little ones watched.

Getting ready to build!

He's official!

The boys helped get started by banging their hammers while the dad's figured out what to do.

Jonah couldn't wait to get started

He helped hammer in the nails (see his little hand holding the hammer! :)

The finished product: the Fire Boat!

Yay!

Legoland

In celebration of Jonah's birthday, last weekend we took him to Legoland for the first time. It was so much fun and perfect for a little two year old! We met our good friends, James and Jennifer and their two little ones at the park. Owen, their five year old, was our tour guide and was so excited to show Jonah around! We were there all day and Jonah didn't take a single nap, but he was a good trooper and had a great time. Here he is on his first ride. It was a little boat ride through a fairytale town made of, what else, Legos! He's so cute in his little hat!

Next we went to a fun area where kids can just run around and play. I think it was actually called "Play Town"! Jonah and Owen had a lot of fun running around, climbing up the fun houses and sliding down. It was a great place for both of them to burn off some energy!

A big obstacle course-type maze for the kiddos

Fun little Lego fire station and firetruck

Big boy! He went up the ladder and down the slide all by himself! He was so proud of himself, he did it about five more times!

Too cute!

Play town had a little water section where the kids could play with water toys. Of course, this meant they would get soaked!

Henry had fun hanging out in his hat watching Jonah. He can't wait for next year when he can run around too!

Jonah and Daddy went on the big helicopters. He wasn't too sure of this one.

So all the boys (minus Henry) went on the fire truck ride. They got into little fire trucks and had to pump it to make it move. They raced against three other fire trucks to get to the "fire", put it out with the hose, and race back to the finish line. There was a reason only the boys did this one! :)

Somehow, Dan and James were the only ones pumping and steering. Owen and Jonah were just along for the ride!

Owen is putting out the fire, while Dan and James continue to pump the water out. Jonah was so excited at this part! He was too cute jumping up and down cheering them on!

Yay! They won!! (If you look in the window of the truck, you can see Jonah's head. He had no idea what was going on and probably didn't even know the ride was over!!)

Henry pretending to go down a waterslide - this is as close to his adventurous side as he would get!

Some new friends

Later in the day, we made it to "Spray Town". Oh, Jonah could have stayed here all day. I think Owen would have stayed with him! We forgot his swimsuit, so we suited him up in a swimmy diaper and let him go crazy. He was SOOOOO happy!!

Last ride was this fun little airplane. Jonah was really not into this one. A little to speedy for his taste.

We had such a fun day. We were able to purchase a three month pass from Costco, so we'll be taking the boys back for a fun Halloween celebration they have where the kids can "Brick-or-Treat". Should be fun and we'll post those pictures when it happens.
