December 2016

December is probably everyone's favorite month! So much fun stuff to do around town and with the family and then of course, Christmas! This year we branched out and did some things we haven't done before - we went down to Coronado and looked at lights and we also went to the Bay Balloon Parade. Both were really fun and we hope to do them each year.

We had breakfast with Santa and the Cow at Chick-fil-A. Sadly everyone was scared of them!

The Big Balloon parade was super fun! We didn't really know what to expect but it turned out to be pretty cute! We took the trolley downtown, which was fun for the kids, and then we walked to the route of the parade and picked a seat on the curb. Somewhere along the way, they were passing out balloons, so that was fun for the kids too. They had coffee and snack kiosks set up and a lot of people turned out too!

The GhostBuster car made an appearance

After the parade, we walked around downtown and made our way over to Little Italy. We have never explored that part of town, so it was really fun! There were a lot of cute coffee shops and delicious smelling Italian restaurants. They also had a town square where this giant poinsettia tree was on display.

 Ben loves to eat!

Lucy had her first sewing project, which she did all by herself! She made this incredibly cute little reindeer!

Henry crafted a reindeer too in school.

During one of their schooling days, they go down to Balboa Park once a week. Today, they were learning how to needlepoint. Neither of the boys were big fans, but it was good for them to work with their hands and learn to be exact.

After needlepoint, they had an art lesson at the Art Institute in Balboa Park.

Then they all met with a balloon maker to have a science lesson on air. After it was over, they all learned how to make balloon animals!

 Here's their crazy class!

I love how they look in their hats!

We drove down to Coronado one evening, had dinner, then walked around to look at the lights. Of course, we had to start at the Hotel Del. It was beautiful! And it had all sorts of things going on inside it, which we looked around at but I didn't take pictures. They also had an ice skating rink outside. It was pretty crowded and the kids didn't want to try so we just walked around.

We had to throw coins into the big fountain!

 Christmas Eve!

 Christmas morning!

Santa always brings the best gifts!

Someone got the kids the game Pie Face for Christmas, so we had to torture everyone with it.

Pictures got out of order again. This is downtown for the Balloon Parade after we rode the trolley in.

Here are some of the balloons and a pretty cute little guy too!

Star Wars characters marched through too. This was probably the only time the boys perked up.

We were right by the bay, so we had to look into the water!
